Laulau's Story

Laulau is a creative educational company from Helsinki, Finland, founded in 2008 by Minna Lappalainen – an award-winning music educator and children’s songwriter. From the very beginning, Laulau’s mission has been to support children’s holistic growth and learning through inclusive, artistic, and playful methods, and to provide teachers and therapists with engaging, easy-to-use tools for creative learning.

Today, the Laulau® Learning Methods are an established part of Finnish early childhood, pre-primary, and special education, as well as rehabilitation, including speech, occupational, and music therapy. Laulau is also growing internationally, with partners and representatives in the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Estonia, and Singapore.

How it all started

In the family of Laulau’s founder, Minna Lappalainen, where both parents were musicians, singing and making music together with their two children played a central role in everyday life. Many of the initial creative ideas sprouted during moments of singing, playing and discovering together. These insights, which emerged in the midst of shared activities, could not be found ready-made “on the store shelf,” so Minna decided to start developing them herself.
